The medium of film played a key role in communicating the New Building style of the 1920s and early 1930s as well as in planning and housing construction in post-war modernism. However, extending far beyond informational and promotional purposes, filmmakers have devoted themselves to the diverse themes of social coexistence and the influence exercised upon it by the design of urban space. Against this backdrop, film curator Florian Wüst presents two different collages of short film excerpts that describe and comment on the main topics of the symposium in an associative way.

Florian Wüst lives in Berlin as a freelance film curator, artist, publisher and lecturer. From 2016 to 2020, he was film and video curator for transmediale and regularly curates for the Werkleitz Festival in Halle (Saale) and the Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg. He curated two exhibitions for the Centro Internacional de Cultura Contemporánea Tabakalera in San Sebastián: Zin Ex. Body and Architecture (2021) and Zin Ex. From Abstraction to Algorithm (2020). His engagement with urban issues is also the subject of the exhibition Heute noch, morgen schon. Filmische Perspektiven auf Berlin um 1990 (Today, Tomorrow. Cinematic Perspectives on Berlin around 1990) at the Museum Nikolaikirche, Berlin (2025/26). Wüst is co-founder of the Berliner Hefte zu Geschichte und Gegenwart der Stadt (Berlin Journal on the History and Present of the City).
