Opening of the centennial exhibitions

Opening of the centennial exhibitions

On 28 March 2026, the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation will open the two major exhibitions of the centennial “To the Core. Bauhaus Dessau 100”, as well as three smaller open-air presentations. These explore the material, economic and technological foundations of design at the Bauhaus. In addition, they will also focus on contemporary issues in construction and examine local and global production cycles, working conditions and the consequences for nature and ecosystems.

The two exhibitions Glass | Concrete | Metal (in the Bauhaus Building) and Algae | Debris | CO2 (in the former Zeeck department store) explore the materials used to construct the Bauhaus building, as well as alternative types of construction.

Two open-air presentations are dedicated to the history of the Stahlhaus and the Junkers Lamellenhalle at Leopoldshafen. And around the historic employment office, a programme of installations, performances and experiments focuses on brick as a building material.

The grand opening will take place on 28 March 2026 at 11 am in the Bauhaus Building. This will be followed by guided tours of the exhibitions and stage discussions on the centennial programme.

A detailed programme with all participants, bookable formats and events will be available shortly on our website. There you can also register for guided tours and individual programme items.
