Open Monument Day: Landmarks

Referring to this year’s motto of the Open Monument Day “Wahr-Zeichen. Witnesses of History”, employees of the building department will guide you through the Dessau-Törten Housing Estate (Gropius building studio from 1926). The focus is on the construction and change history of the Housing Estate, which is presented to us today in all its complexity on and through the buildings themselves. Traces of the first construction phases from 1926 onwards are explored, as are the adaptations, conversions and extensions that began shortly after the houses were completed in the 1920s and continue to the present day. All of this tells the lively story of the Housing Estate, which after almost 100 years is still one of the most popular residential neighbourhoods in Dessau.

Admission to all historic Bauhaus buildings is free on Open Monument Day.
