musica magnetica
The history of electronic music is at least as old as the Bauhaus itself. Some of the earliest electronic instruments still in use today – the theremin, the ondes martenot and the trautonium – were developed between 1919 and 1930. Hammond organ and synthesiser came later, and today computers generate music. The evening shines a light on the compositions of Paul Arma, who curated musical work at the Bauhaus Dessau in 1931/32.
An event by the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau as part of “Raum für Klang. Neue Musik im Bauhaus Museum” (Space for sound. New music in the Bauhaus Museum). With works by Paul Arma, Claudio Santoro, Yana Shliabanska and others. Light installation: Guido Petzold
