Material Talk: Metal
The curators of the ‘Metal’ section of the exhibition Glass | Concrete | Metal will be speaking with Gerhard Heide about iron ores and their deposits – with a focus on Central Germany.
Gerhard Heide is Professor of General and Applied Mineralogy at the Faculty of Geosciences, Geotechnics and Mining at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, where he also heads the Mineralogical Collection. Using the examples of magnetite, haematite, siderite and other iron ores, which are also on display in the exhibition, the talk will explore iron ores and their deposits for iron and steel production in the 1920s, and how both continue to offer exciting research opportunities to this day.
The event will be held in German.
