With a changing line-up of guests from production, research and design, in this series of talks we track down the substances and materials the Bauhaus Building is made of.

On April 23, the curators of the Glass section of the exhibition will engage in a conversation with Prof. Dr. Gerhard Heide. He is professor of general and applied mineralogy at the Faculty of Geosciences, Geotechnics, and Mining at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, where he also heads the Mineralogical Collection. The discussion will focus on individual exhibition objects, their manufacturing techniques and conditions, and link these to questions about the material: What exactly is glass? How are different types, such as borosilicate glass, crystal mirror glass, or frosted glass, manufactured? And how do minerals like hematite and cryolite play a role in this process?

From 3 pm onwards, the curators of the Glass section of the exhibition Glass | Concrete | Metal will be available for discussions.

The event will be held in German.
