Jürgen Beck, a photographer living and working in Switzerland, was artist-in-residence at the Master’s House Muche in the spring and autumn of 2025.
The exhibition centres on the question of how photography renders architecture visible. Jürgen Beck’s photographic work situates the iconic architecture of the Bauhaus buildings within their urban and, in some cases, post-industrial surroundings, incorporating everyday objects by Marianne Brandt, as well as everyday clothing and students from Anhalt University of Applied Sciences into the compositions. His photographic language subverts the familiar logic of architectural photography, which has contributed to the collective visual memory of iconic buildings.
As part of the exhibition opening, there will be an artist talk between Jürgen Beck, Barbara Steiner and Juliane Aleithe.
