When we think of metal, we often think of machines, bridges or tools. Metal is an everyday material; it is stable and heavy, feels cool to the touch, and can be flexible or rigid. One could almost say that the material has a “serious character”. But perhaps metal has even more potential than that?
In this summer workshop, we want to playfully discover the hidden talents of metal as a material.
We will start with a brief exploration of the material, discover simple methods for working with it, draw inspiration from the works of Bauhaus student Heinrich Busse, and finally invent a circus ring full of artists, animals and figures. Made from sheet metal and wire, the figures will ultimately make their grand entrance in the “Tin Circus”.
The holiday workshop for young materials researchers aged 10 to 14.
