Der Grüne Tisch
Kurt Jooss, who paved the way for German dance theatre, was in regular artistic exchange with Oskar Schlemmer and achieved his breakthrough in 1932 with his legendary choreography “Der Grüne Tisch (The green table)”. His expressionist dance of the dead was his response to the horrors of the First World War and a warning of the looming catastrophe of the Second. Ballet director Stefano Giannetti choreographs Ravel’s La Valse of 1920 in a programme rounded out by Ravel’s Valses nobles et sentimentales, composed in 1912.
