As part of the 100th centennial of the Bauhaus in Dessau, the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation’s educational programme ‘Neue Verbindungen’ is bringing its experimental approach to Berlin – and will be hosting an event at Modulor.
The workshop invites groups to discover modernist materials in a sensory and surprising way. Glass, concrete and metal are viewed not merely as building materials, but as living vessels of sound, texture, light and meaning. Through hands-on experimentation, participants explore just how versatile and dynamic materials can be – and what stories lie within them.
Together with Moritz Appich, new perspectives on design and perception emerge. The workshop creates space to question familiar ways of seeing and, in the spirit of the centennial, to get to the ‘heart’ of materials: How do they feel? How do they sound? How do they transform our surroundings?
The open format is aimed at anyone interested and groups who would like to discover the Bauhaus legacy from a new, experimental perspective. It forms part of the inclusive outreach programme for the Bauhaus anniversary in Dessau, which deliberately goes beyond traditional exhibition formats.
With ‘Neue Verbindungen’, the centennial comes to life in Dessau – whilst also being further explored in Berlin.
