100 years ago, the Bauhaus moved from Weimar to Dessau: from September 2025 to December 2026, the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation is celebrating the big centennial with the motto ‘’To the Core‘’. It is about the material, economic and technological foundations in the design disciplines of the important university and also about very contemporary issues.
To kick off the centennial year, the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation is a guest of the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz in the Neue Nationalgalerie. A pop-up presentation will illustrate the main Bauhaus materials such as concrete, steel, glass and aluminium in six stations, providing an introduction to the anniversary theme.
On Saturday afternoon, a public programme will be offered in the Glass Hall and the Sculpture Garden of the Neue Nationalgalerie. This will include an interactive workshop on the Bauhaus as well as keynote speeches and discussions on dealing with modern architectural icons and the current potential of natural materials in the construction industry. Admission is free.
The pop-up presentation will be travelling to other Bauhaus locations in Germany in the following months.
