Particula

Particula

Dust, building rubble and earth serve as vessels of history, weaving a vertical narrative that spans deposition, transformation and the underlying substrate. An experimental space that bridges field research, the laboratory and performative inquiry, where materials are sifted, layered and interpreted.

In this workshop, we will examine precisely these tiniest components of a place, which are much more than mere “remnants” – they bear traces of time, use and change. Together, we will explore the question: How can a place be interpreted through its particles?

Through accessible, experimental attempts that blend research and experimentation, we work with the material: we sift, layer, moisten, observe and rearrange it. In small groups, you will act as material researchers, each examining a specific material and focusing on dust, building rubble or soil. This gives rise to a collaborative research process in which different perspectives on the material come to light.

From these investigations, participants develop their own small “local histories”: what do the particles tell us about renovation, destruction, everyday life and change? Step by step, a collective particle archive takes shape, which will later be displayed in the exhibition Algae | Debris | CO2.
