In Bed with the Bauhaus
3 – 11 Oct 2020
Bauhaus Museum Dessau, Open Stage
As part of the Festival Architecture Radical in 2019, Mexican architect Frida Escobedo designed a large shared bed for the foyer of the Bauhaus Museum Dessau. With this social construction of a space she invites us to question since when it has been considered normal to sleep alone or, at most, in pairs. The bed cover is inspired by a design by Bauhaus member Anni Albers, which was manufactured by the textile designer Bettina Mileta. When Frida Escobedo’s bed returns to the museum for two weeks in 2020, it will not only encourage visitors to jointly experience the Open Stage afresh. It will also be possible to sleep here on the night of 3 to 4 October.
