Wermke/Leinkauf
Wermke/Leinkauf work on the performative conversion of urban topographies, the fathoming of their boundaries, and the questioning of common social behaviours. In most cases, these are subversive interventions in the traditional Debordist sense of Dérive, which are counterbalanced by a framework concept of precise planning and execution. Wermke/Leinkauf create images and imaginary worlds that make hidden urban spaces, their meaning and possible uses, visible. They extend the artistic scope of action into a contemporary, urban space and refer to historical and cultural contexts in order to stimulate a social discourse.
