Über die Mauer.

With Über die Mauer (Over the Wall), Kandinsky, known to most only as a painter, surprises with a piece for the stage that tells of the creative process of a work. In a fictional dialogue between actor/artist and recipient/spectator that is as serious as it is amusing, he provides insight into the painter's point of view, which breaks out of the two-dimensionality of the painting and expands it into the three-dimensional spatiality of the theatre. What is initially only an inner image is turned inside out and establishes itself in space as a process. In the process, the synaesthete Kandinsky, i.e. one who can see sounds and hear colours, allows the sound of colour and light, which becomes music, to stand on an equal footing with the physical sound of movement. In this way, he makes word and sound, movement and dance, light and colours – i.e. hearing and speaking, seeing and feeling as well as the transcending element – equally experienceable as a theatrical art action.
Arila Siegert, director and choreographer, is realising this production together with the team with whom she staged the internationally acclaimed performance of Violett at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau in September 2019. Now the two grey figures from Kandinsky's sound opera return, for "…so it goes on and on.", this time in the now traditional modernist series staging the bauhaus in cooperation with the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau.

Unfortunately, the performances staging the bauhaus. Über die Mauer planned for 3 + 4 December 2021 cannot take place for technical reasons. An alternative date will be announced. Tickets already purchased can be exchanged or refunded at the box office of the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau.
