Co-production of the company Hedwig Dances under the direction of Jan Bartoszek with the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation in cooperation with the Chicago Puppet Studio of the Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival. In three acts – larvae, pupae, imagos – the historical costumes are interpreted as training and transformation apparatuses for an alternative human existence, following the metamorphosis of insects. While Oskar Schlemmer constantly rearranged his triadic costumes after the premiere to experiment with the relationships of humans to more-than-human technical structures, META | MOR | PHOS uses the costumes for practising in connections with more-than-human natural existences. In the first act, the historical costumes are interpreted as imaginary larvae from which, after a phase of pupation, the dancers explore the existential connectedness of humans with other species as insectoid imagos. Schlemmer’s Triadic Ballet is reactivated as an experimental arrangement and practice model of human transformation, this time connected to the natural world.
