The longing for a unity of the arts can be read as a consequence of a fragmented experience of the world. In organic thinking that binds all opposites, eye and ear, stable and star, art and craft merge. The guided tour with Thomas Altmann through the Bauhaus Museum Dessau asks: What does the Gesamtkunstwerk "house", as Walter Gropius dreamed it, have in common with the Gesamtkunstwerk "stage"? Where are the points of intersection between the reflective light plays of the Bauhäusler and works by Alexander Scriabin or Arnold Schönberg? Why do we sometimes speak of a "musicalisation" of modern painting?
